Together's Audio-reactive Lights

TOGETHER'S AUDIO-REACTIVE LIGHTS

Together Boston, an electronic music and technology festival, asked Skeptic to design and install a visual element to be the focal point of Together’s main stage, The Middle East Downstairs. Skeptic used industrial lighting diffusers commonly found in office drop-ceilings, 300 LEDs, and an Arduino micro-controller to create an 8’ x 12’ audio-reactive display that was mounted on the ceiling over the dance floor. Skeptic’s goal was to shift the focus from the DJ to the dance floor, reminding the crowd that they are an integral part of the performance.

Skeptic was then asked to install the lights at Fresh Tilled Soil to be featured at their uxFest conference in October 2013. This opportunity created all new installation challenges for us, which called for some innovative mounting techniques.
